Default Need some feedback...

Well guys i need a little bit of feedback on my idea. I bought my car for 500$ w/ blown engine. So i figured i would get the H22A swap and go from there. Now i got the Lude at my house and i poped the hood to see how bad of shape the engine was in, since i was told he threw a rod. I figured either he threw the rod right through the block or it hadn't quite gottin that far. Well anyways i had my boy jump my car but the battery was completly dead all i got was the Acc. out of it, but when i did try to turn over the engine it wanted to but like i said no juice in the batt. So i looked to see what engine it was and comes out to be a B20.Dont know if thats comes stock in a 1989 2.0SI Prelude, but I know thats a strong block plus a mechanic i know said he would take a look at the engine and see if he could rebuild it for me. So what i was brain storming was to take the B20 and put a Vtec head on the mother. Then N/A the beast...So if there is anyone out there thats been there and done that please help me out here..I mean i am into cars i love the racing scene. You know All go No show...Lol But needless to say everyone i know has a Fin Nissan 240sx and well i wanted to be different but one major problem i dont know all that much about Honda's...And i am sure most or all of you on this site know 10 times as much as me..If you could help me out that would be great. I will have pics of my car and well if anyone wants them tell me I will send them to you.

the 3g lude wont take the H22a without a lot of work.

I dont think there is a VTEC head that fits a B20. I think you'd be better off going along the lines of B18C engine if thats possible on that car.

Well i was looking around today on the internet and i found a guy talking about Vtec heads fitting all B series blocks. So that why i was asking i wasn't sure. I mean i have drivin in a a brand new S2k just off the lot and well he hit and when Vtec kicked in it felt better then sex...I mean it was just so sexy. Well i figured i could somehow get Vtec in my Old Skool street machine. Oh and about the H22A i have read a few things on 91 ludes with the H22A swap they say all the major things you have to cover is mounting brackets changing a few things around such as powersteering pump, Air comp, etc...and a few cuts outs in the engine bay itself...Doesn't sound hard but i know most things are easier said then done.

i think the b-series u were reading about is the civic/integra/crv b series, which is different than the 80's ludes and accords b series engines....so if ur lookin for vtec, best thing would be a b-series swap from one of those cars like b18c or ls/vtec

or if ya got the time and money h22a

Well that was my first plan H22A..I mean money is a slight issue time i just dont have. but go to http://www.ludespeed.com/produ.../vtec/ and read what that says tell me what you think. He says it possible but it isn't as cheap and cracked up as it was supposed to be.

the vtec conversion never really got to the point of being dependable though....same story with everyone that i've heard of trying it...many people have done a h22a conversion though and been very happy with it

this has the write up for doing a swap if you're interested:

Yea i was just looking for a cheaper way to get VTEC. But i haven't heard of anyone doing the VTEC convert. So you think that the H22A would be the way to go? I know for one the H22A is just going to be an overall faster and more dependable engine but money is just a slight issue in my pocket book.

getting an H22 in there will be big $$$. get a working B20 lude engine and swap it to get it running and sell it. or just get rid of it now. not much performance in those 3g preludes

like MrMike said, i think that just getting a running B20a5 in there would be cheapest....people have had pretty good luck turbo'ing them if you need more power later on. if you're dying to swap engines though, the H22a is the way to go...keep the prelude blood pumping

Yea I think thats what i am going to do for now just get the B20A5 running so atleast i have a car to drive. After that i will most prob look into like some headers, custom exhaust piping, intake, you know just a few things to make the old girl run just a little but faster. But i was thinking of after i did that going head on and buying a H22A Type-S the brand new H22A and just build it up from the block. Bore and Strock and a few other things make it pretty high performance then drop the swap on in the old babe.
