aftermarket keepers?
I just bought some crane stage 2 cams, dual valve springs and titanium retainers for my b16a. Now on the crane website it says "Do not use stock locks - recommend FerreaŽ Part No. K10034". These are 7 degree valve locks. Do i really need to use aftermarker keepers or are stock ones good enough?

If I recommend u not to jump into the fire cause u may die - will u ask someone else if u should still jump? Don't get mad, I just want u to see how stupid your question is. There is a reason why they recommend using a different keepers. The same reason why u should not jump in a burning house when the firemen tells u not to.

Well I have 2 friends using aftermarket cams, springs and retainers and they did not use aftermarket keepers and they've never had a problem. So i was just wondering if its just a cash grab by crane....but wait they recommend using ferrea keepers.
Car manufacturers recommend changing the oil every 3000 miles or 3 months but if you don't your engine won't blow up. Tire companies recommend you rotate ur tires every 2nd oil change, but if you don't your tires won't explode. Get the point? I was more looking for personal experience, did you guys use aftermarket keepers when building your head?

I would highly suggest using what Crane tells you to use. Keepers don't cost that much anyways. Isn't it better to have something that will work rather than dropping a valve and needing to replace a piston, valve, headwork and cylinder rebore just because you felt that stock would be "good enough"?
