Just mounted my winter tires on my R!
I just mounted my all season winter tires on my R and let me tell you. Sometimes you don't really appreciate what you have until it is gone. I know all season tires are exactly that, ment to be driven all the time but I never really could grasp how well our stock potenza tires handled the road until now.
I can't drive like a bat out of H@#L until summer is back in town. MAN that is going to really bite!
Oh well, at least I will have something to look forward to .

I'm going to slap on the winter tires this weekend. Yokohama guardex mounted on Mazda Millenia wheels. I weighed the combo at just under 30lbs. According to Josh's excellent website the stock combo weighs 36.6lbs. I guess this means I should be able to accelerate up to their 99mph limit a bit faster than before?
Which tires did you put on? I put some cheapy Sumitomo tires on mine and already had to drive in the snow twice they do alright. I hate winter...can't wait til I sell my prelude and get a 4-runner then I won't have to drive it.
I put some 195/55R15 Steel 525 all season tires made by federal. We haven't had any snow yet so I don't know how they will do. I hope I don't end up in a ditch!!
The best advice I can give you is to leave plenty of room in front of you at lights. Theres nothing like seeing a semi-truck sliding towards you in the rear view mirror with no space to inch up. Luckily I left about two lengths in front of me and moved up as he came closer. Whew
Just drive with the mind set that everyone is out to get you and you'll do pretty good.

Good luck with your winter racer R here in the Midwest.
I'm hoping I can get my hybrid fixed before snow comes...if I don't I'll need to figure something out and get some snow tires for the R.

BTW, all-season tires are not the same thing as winter tires. They're not as good in snow and frigid temperatures, but they're better than winter tires when the temperatures warm up (still not as good as summer-type high-performance tires though).
Most folks use all-season tires because they use one set year-round. If I were going to bother swapping tires, I would swap to real winter tires. In fact, that's exactly what I'm going to do. I'm still waiting, though. I swap them when it looks like we're going to get our first real winter storm or our first real cold wave - usually around the middle of December.
