Those of you who did your own clutch install...........
I will be installing my ACT HA3-XTSS clutch and Fidanza flywheel soon and i wanted to know from those who have installed clutches themselfs, what special tools if any did you find out needing? Also what parts do you recommend changing or replacing during the installation. Are air tools a MUST, or will hand tools be suficient enough? I will buy air tools if needed but i rather save the money. I will have no problem handling the installation, but i want to make sure i knock out as many birds with one stone.
not exactly what hes asking but, when doing a clutch....if i pulled my motor would it be possible to leave the tranny in there to install the clutch...cause i really dont feel like pulling axles ive done this twice when i snapped them. *just for note, im pulling my motor to change my timing belt, and figured i might as well do the clutch too, especially if i wont have to drop the tranny out*

i dont get what u mean? do u mean to leave the tranny in the car while the engine is out? if so, nah you can't, but it wouldnt really matter where the tranny is the clutch and stuff bolts to the long block,

Yeah ive seen that. Its a good write up. I was just wondering any bolt and stuff you replaced or had to buy because it was worn or damaged. Did you re-use your flywheel/presusre plate bolts?

You should be fine with hand tools really airtools are too big to get into most places. I didnt replace anything but clutch, flywheel, throwout bearing. They should all be included in your clutch kit. Also make sure you have a clutch alignment tool. It helps out alot it came with mine so I dont know if you will get one also. Its just a little plastic round piece. Hope that helps. If you get stuck drop me a pm id be more than happy to try and help you out.

All i replaced was the clutch , pressure plate and TO bearing. I did make sure i had a rear main seal on hand in case it was leaking. However it wasn't, so i didn't use it. They are like 20.00 from honda.
You might want to send shakes a pm, i think he has an SH and changed his clucth not too long ago.

This is one area we are getting good at. During the NHRA event at Bandimere we had fun timing the tranny change - it took 45min's There were about 5 guys working on it because we had 2 hours till the next run.
Hand tools are fine - drain the oil out of your tranny - remove the axles - unbolt everything drop it out - pressure plate, disk and bearing always replace - if replacing the flywheel we are now using lock tite because we had one come loose and it shot the back of the crank. Take your alignment tool that should come with the kit torqe the pressure plate to specs. Have fun putting the tranny back in its best to have a friend up top while your under the tranny. If this is your first time don't feel bad if it takes all day. Good Luck - don't forget to refill the tranny.
