Default what intakes do you guys have for ACCORD EX 90?

hello,

i am debating about intakes.

i am curious if short-ram intakes are any good. do all they do is just make sounds? increase/decrease mpg? or really give you any gains?

i don't think i would go w/ a cai, cuz i dont wanan risk siphon..

but does AEM brand really matter? or generic ones are the same?

thanks

just get an ebay intake (cai or short, doesnt matter) and stick a k&n filter on

or build one of your own

u dont need to spend hundres of dollars on an intake...

Yes you do. I have one for sale. IM me on AOL. Anyways, people use a lot of different stuff. Best value is definitely the EBAY with good filter solution. YOu won't gain much power either way so it doesn't make too much difference.

if you plan on going turbo then the intake is pointless...granted its only what...$70 after getting an ebay intake and then a k&n filter...thats $70 you'll need for the turbo setup. make sure you know what you wanna do before you start spending money on stuff that won't really increase your power. you'll notice more of an acceleration difference and a nifty sound.

do the ghetto custom short ram intake, pull off everything including the box and cutomize an adapter to fit a cone filter at the end of the tubing.

the best way to do it dont forget the resonator box in the wheel well!

I'm running a Matrix Short Ram. I'm happy with it and it doesn't affect your mpg, if anything, I have seen a gain in mpg with my breather upgrades. Obviously go for the K&N cone, but Matrix is pretty nice and I like it. Like Madd said, if you plan to turbo, don' t waste your cash on something that will do you no good later.

i'm typically a damn noob..

my car only has 78k on it, so i dont wanna do anything major to it, trying to learn things here and there.

what route can i do? or upgrades along the way? i mean is it worth it? what would you guys do?

first i was thinking intake, but i am still debating bout it and what not, and if a short ram is better than stock. or is it just a waste of gas, and noise.

trying to read thigns here and there.

thanks..

ehhe.. will it be even capable? that my car can handle the boost? w/o changing a whole lot of stuff.

well honestly to say, i have to try do some maintenance for it. will going the n/a route be cheaper? after all it is limited, and do handles to it.

turbo route. is costly, and i guess more option? and the woosh sounds good?? !

well, i think cost will be a limiting factor, and perhaps knowledge wise. this car is all stock, i am trying to learn things and what not.

i am trying to budget myself w/ a project every month and what not. i want a goal, so i can pace myself and learn. umm any threads or links?

thanks

Search turbo in the accord forum and it should yield decent results. If you're wanting a decent upgrade; one that you can feel don't dick around with the popular intake or exhaust. Those typically will only get you around 10whp MAX...versus a turbo set up should get around 75-100 (depending on a lot of things) and will be well worth it.

With your low miles I would think your compression is good and the f22 takes very well to boost even on stock internals. Even if you boost 5-7 psi it is still safe. I have seen some people on here boost 10-12 psi on stock internals on 150K+ engines. Research it and it will be money well spent.

If you just want to dink around with your car, intake/exhaust/header are typically the first 3. Then you get into a cam regrind or upgrade and an engine program...typically without getting into the internals the mods are limited due to SOHC.

Just my 2 cents.

thanks for the thoughts. this car is a daily commute an 'auto' i haven't even touched my 3rd gen yet '5 speed'. and w/ life money is a bit tough, especially being a college student.

i am just getting into automotive sort of speak, and dunno if it'd be wise to just jump onto turbo and what not.

i understand the sohc is limited. i am more about the 'joy' of just fiddling things, as well as 'actual' benefits and gains, versus 'just LOUD exhausts' and stuff like that.

my goal is to create a sleeper. i don't think i can do an 'na beast'. or that type of thing. perhaps the long term goal would be a swap? i dunno.

my skill level, knowledge, as well as resource will play a role in deciding, as right now, they are limited. turbo just seems outta the picture and a bit expensive.

i am actually wanting to get the car in to shape, the maintenance stuff, before i go onto the intak/exhaust/ header type of thing.

so i guess now that it has been decided sort of speak, which routes are feasible in creating a joyous ride?

but perhaps over time, turbo may be in the picture? it jsut seems so far for me to visualize working and fixing it and what not. i am not sure if i have enough time to devote to it... i will research..

do u guys know of any forums dedicated just to teh cb7?

i joined cb7tuner. looking to see a place that is informative.

thansk very much

so honestly what can i trully get w/ NA route? the max it can go to would be? plus handles?
