Blah...I wouldnt trust one. Id rather just have a spare $20 filter in the trunk..if the weather looks bad...pull over abd break out a screwdriver...undo the cold air part and add the under-hood filter

Cheaper and 100% sure.

Short ram for winter. Then CIA for summer. When it rains convert to short ram.

i hydrolocked my motor. My gsr was then totaled, bye bye car payment. I threw a rod and bent the valves because of not buying a damm bypass valve.

Sorry to hear that one. I have no fender lining on that side so my Aem is exposed. But for rainy season I use the Oe intake. Ive driven in the rain ONCE with the Aem and luckily nothing happend, one of them unexpected rainy days!

I have never had any problems with driving in the rain, although I do plan on getting the bypass valve as soon as I get off my lazy *** and go buy one. But it doesn't rain that much here so no problem for me.

The bypass valve doesn't even really do anything until the filter becomes comepletely submerged in water. The engine would much rather suck air from the big filter rather than the little bypass valve. So if the filter is just getting splashed with water, the engine will suck it up anyway. Its better to just not drive in the rain, or have a spare to use.

I hydrolocked my motor. At the time I had an AEM CAI with no fender lining, it was a rainstorm that caught me off guard, hit a puddle and that was the end of it. I have a bypass valve with my intake now on my new engine which happens to be a JDM B18C1

When it rains, I'm driving the wifes car, my car doesn't like rain anymore..

This was only a problem in early BVs, AEM has since recalled them and corrected it.

I've never had problems.

Those of you who did have problems, how big of a puddle did you drive through?
