turbo upgrade for 98 4cyl accord
im wanting to do a turbo for my 98 honda accord which is a 4cyl with 103k miles on the car. what do i need to upgrade to ensure my cars reliability. im wanting to put a t3/t4 turbo kit.
search...search....SEARCH! this is very common. but, it all depends on how much boost you plan on running. a low amount (7psi) should be safe depending on the condition of your engine. safest thing to do would be to buy a kit and use the (edit: i meant AFC) VAFC hack...that should be sufficient. no matter how you look at it, though, a standalone is the absolute best way to go. it looks like you need to do a lot more research on this subject...it requires upkeep....and it isn't something you just bolt on and forget. expect to shell out some cash to turbo....a lot of the guys you see on here that are turbo'd have spent months and months if not years planning. it is a lot of work, and you need to search this forum and read! you'll learn so much. if your wanting to up the boost you'll need to invest in new rods, pistons, maybe sleeves, beef up the transmission, valvetrain, and many other things. rods and pistons alone can run you ~$1000...so make sure this is something you want. if you're looking fo rmore power, but want to just plop it in and leave it be...then do a swap....you'll be more statisfied with it in the end. whatever you do make sure you research and look at all your options...whatever it is good luck
by the way, dont be so vague in your posts...we need to know more info like have you ran a compression test to insure that nothing is wrong with the internals? how much boost you want to run? etc....
