Need advice: Should I rebuild the motor in my rex or buy a new one?
I have a 89 DX that I took to the dealer a few weeks ago. They did a compression test and said one cylinder was only running 40%, and that I need new piston rings. The car has 137K miles on it, and I'm wondering, first of all, how much would it cost to rebuild my motor? Or would I be better off just buying an imported motor off Ebay?
If I bought a motor off Ebay, I would at least want to put an Si motor back in, or maybe a ZC. But my car is automatic, and I want to keep it that way. I'm wondering if that may be a problem.
The ZC will bolt right up using the stock mounts, right? I know I'll have to do a MPFI swap, but will I need any other parts?
Sorry to sound so confused but I am

i'm gonna keep on using these 88-91 sohc zc's until they're all gone.
Saves time and money.
don't get me wrong u proly could put together a nice deal w/ PM7 .5mm OS slugs y8 HG and street/strip headwork with more than what a stock ZC puts out, but i prefer the cheap route
