pls help!! gone through 3 sets of spark plug in 3 days...anyone...
sry i know this is a honda forum but i have an eclipse also and its an rs and a 1997. 75K right from dealer.. 5 spd. but lately ive had alot of problems with it and i have not even really messed with it at all. the main prob is the spark plugs keep fouling out and turning white cause i guess they are burning too hot. ive replaced them 3 times in the past 3 days. 2 sets of auto lite. and 1 set of NGK , i use 2 sets with a higher heat range to see if that fixed it but it does not they still get too hot and turn white. and when this happens the car start stumbling and driving bad. i cant take it any more. on ly check engine code is 31 and that is EVAP failure. and ive checked my canister and all hoses are good and even replaced mygas cap and still no luck code stays. so temp i dissconnected all hoses from canister and plugged up vacuum lines so it runs normal . but it dont help . within a day of driving plugs foul out. motor is in perfect shape. compression is good ea cylinder. i did a vacuum test and its steady at about 19 inches of vacuum at idle. what could this be? i am so frusterated with this car. i paid alot for it and i cant even fix this.. i run 89 octane gas and its a 2.0 non turbo DOHC motor.. no mods . just intake. pls help. all sensors are connected right too. list anything that could do this>? timing is right and all cause i never messed with it.. besides ignition timing or idle is not adjustable on this car. OBD2 ecu controls all.
it sounds like your running lean. you should go with a colder plug and see if that helps...Don't use those autolite things, just wasting your money. Stay with NGK.
