CTR cams
I am thinking about getting a set of CTR cams for my b16. What else do I need to get the full potential out of these cams? I have a Comptech Header and I am going to purchase a J's Racing intake. Should I also get a new intake manifold and full CTR valvetrain to get the full potential.
thanks

I would say type r valvesprings and retainers. Also a type r intake manifold. That would be a nice start.
PS, the r retainers are the same as the b16 ones, but I would replace just for piece of mind.
EDIT: a hondata or a chip with a higher redline and vtec xover would help ya be able to ref those guys to 8,500 rpm.

So
CTR Cams
Type R springs and retainers
Type R Intake Manifold
00 Civic Si Fuel rail so that I can use the manifold
what throttle body do i need to make it all work or can I use my b16 throttle body.
also what gaskets do I need for the TB and the manifold?
and I am getting a z-dyne ecu
thanks

ok cool thank guys I am probably going to be doing all this here in the next month or so I am just trying to see everything I need so I don't get into a position that I need something and don't have it. I also plan on going turbo in a while will any of this stuff cause and conflicts with that?
thanks

Droppedcrxsi told you just about everything.
I would get an eg/ek iacv. i'm using one from a 95 b16.
With the iacv you have now i hear you will only be able to get one bolt in it
once installed on the itr im.
i'm doing this next weekend.
why aren't injectors on the list? Might as well knowhaimsain.
Has anyone extrude honed their itr im???

So What kind of HP Gains should I expect from those mods
J's racing intake
Skunk 2 or ITR intake Manifold
CTR intake/exhaust cams
valve springs and retainers
Golden Eagle Fuel Rail and DSM injectors
VAFC Hack
with my Comptech header and ful catback exhaust

I heard someone getting around 157 whp with just ctr cams and I/H/E on their B16. Pretty impressive if u ask me.
I was going to do this too but I drastically had to change my mind since my student loan for this year came up short
Looks like next year for me...

i put down 156 whp with b16a with ctr cams, with jdm header, cheap intake, and 2 1/2 inch exhaust. I think you are confused what a vafc hack is, vafc hack is for boost, the "hack" is tricking the stock map sensor to read boost without causing a cel.
450 dsm injectors are not needed, neither is a aftermarket fuel rail, the stock fuel rail is good up until about 350 whp, wich you wont ever hit NA. if you want it for bling factor then get it.
Springs/Retainers, first of all, titanium retianers are not as great as everyone suggest, so unless your planning on reving to 9k i would advise against them. If you are planning to go past the stock revlimit then you will definatley need itr springs on both the intake and exhuast cam. This is up to you though, your only going to make power till 8500 with these cams, so if the extra 300 rpm is worth the 200 price tag for parts and install then go for it.

and here is my dyno graph, I made this much power with the stock manifold, and no fuel tuning, a vafc will help to squeeze about 5-10 extra ponies with a good tuner.

What he said. I was running CTR Pistons and cams in my B16 Crower valvetran, B17A intake ported and polished, and a JDM 4-1 ITR header. With 450 dsm injectors leaned out big time. Ran allright, I figure with my compression increase I would need more fuel, NO, put stockies back in and tuned the AFC ran better and pulled allot harder. Never was dynoed but I could feel a definite difference. I would honestly after having the setup say to go bigger, thats why I'm taking the cams, and valvetran out of my CRX. It just wasn't enough power for me. If you are looking for a fun reliable setup though, it may be you. Oh yeah also replace your LMAs with the integra type-r units, they will eventually go bad like mine did.

So I keep my stock rev limit (pr3) will the CTR cams still make a noticable difference? How hard is it to change springs/retainers lmas?
I think I might go ahead and get the Skunk 2 intake manifold and Jr racing intake and put them on and do the full valvetrain later. I am just wanting something that is a quick daily driven b16 (100 mile round trip daily to work).
thanks for all the help guys

That is what I would reccomend, it is gonna be a little pricey to do, and takes a little bit of time, plus you will need a valve spring compressor. Wow that was one hell of a run on sentence, but anyway while you are at it I would change the valve seals too just because you are there, and it wil be easy to do. Good luck and if you need anymore help with the conversion IM me, I will be glad to help.
