not really fond of englishtown.
hosts a lot of decent events, but of lately its just been going down hill.
right smack middle of NJ, being a magnet for stunnas/ricers/people racing on the streets after watching their favorite car do it on the strip, etc.
i dont think you will find many sympathizers here, but perhaps i'll be wrong.

they have been trying to close that track since I was a little kid, but let me tell ya they keep building the houses closer and closer to the track and some of those people have money and connections. So petition or not if they want it closed it will get closed.
good luck Raceway park. Your on your own on this.
good luck Raceway park. Your on your own on this.
Nothin for nothin but this flippant attitude towards an impending track closure could just as well effect a favorite road course and I'm sure the bandwagon mentality would be quite different.
I'm signing it since:
A) The ******** that complain keep building closer and knew beforehand that it was there.
B) Closing it will limit local legal racers choices of possible tracks, and give the "I ain't got a place to race" illegal street racer even more validity.
&
C) Just because it could also happen to a road course just as easily,,, Remember Arizona Motorsports park?

Excellent point and for that reason alone I will sign the petition.

so its the tracks fault that r's get jacked there? NO.
theives target that place (and many other desolate parking lots) because they know that r's sit out there, improperly secured alot, unattended, so its easy hunting. there are alot of places you dont take your car, or you have to be really careful taking it. drag strips are just one place, out of many, that you must be careful at.
what about bad neighborhoods, mall parking lots, colleges, movie theatres? should we tear them down because some type r guys let their car slip, and got it jacked?
its up to car owners to do all they can to secure their cars, and to be careful where they take them, it sucks, but its just the way our world works.

Closure of a track and Management and Security said track are two and possibly even three different subjects.
Does everybody realize how difficult it is to even open a track these days?
True I'm not a 1/4 mile drag race fan, and have never even been to the title track but I'd much rather see change of management or security practices than total closure as I'm sure many other motorsports fans would agree.
The element and atmosphere can be altered with the proper management.
Closing it for condo's or houses doesn't help our collective plight.

Actually you are incorrect. If the place was run well, owners and spectators should not have to deal with such issues.
The last thing or place I'd want to deal with is a place that requires me to bring my own security or to constantly have to watch over my shoulder for fear of my stuff or even my car going missing.

"run well"? what are we to do?
protest that the track should tighten up security? it would be nice, the day we do that, we'll also protest movie theatres, malls, colleges, or any large parking lot that is difficult to attend as well.
be realistic, there are alot of unsafe places for certain cars, its just the way the world works, and it sucks, but we can't complain to all the business's that are like this. its up to us as knowing adults, to make smart decisions, considering we know what happens at particular places.

A) The ******** that complain keep building closer and knew beforehand that it was there.
B) Closing it will limit local legal racers choices of possible tracks, and give the "I ain't got a place to race" illegal street racer even more validity.

a) Granted, but thats freedom. if they want to try to use $$$ to influence people of power, ok, nothing new this is america.
b) this arguement was never valid to begin with. if they want to race on the streets, i say go for it. a sudden surge in street racing will cause many policed communities to take a more serious stance against street racing. At first it may be bad but over time the darwin candidates will either meet darwin, or jail for life.
c) i think that this point is moot only because their situation was not the same as this one.

Ahh the entertainment value on a Sunday night.
I said what I said originally because it IS always a shame to lose any track/strip unless it will be remodeled or improved, and it clearly sounds like Englishtown needs some improvment in several areas But, that's a seperate issue as I already mentioned.
I'm extremely realistic for the record, I don't daily drive my car and don't park it in any public parking spot, but again that's a seperate issue.
What concerned me most and why I retorted to TECH43 RACING INC. was that almost as flippantly as others jumped on and flamed and said "who gives a ****", TECH43 mentions all the relative negatives about this track as if it's a dog eat dog world and you just have to take **** and like it. You don't. Maybe I just misunderstood his comments.
You don't have to attend a track with an insecure history as the above, and you should watch out for yourself, stuff and car, that is clearly already our second nature but you also don't have to accept it and Not say anything about it.
Maybe the track management should be revamped, maybe their loss prevention and security should be improved,
But for certain it's never a "I don't give a ****" good thing when a track closed altogether for housing developments or other.
