Default lowering question

so last night me and my buddy got around to lowering my car..
wasnt a great experience this go-around..

we started on the back and my control arm bolt that connects the bottom of the strut to the control arm snapped, the head of it did, so we were fighting forever to get it out, torched it for awhile, hammered, tried bending the side of my old struts to get it out, finally got it out.. i tried getting the bumpstop off the strut but it wouldnt come out,

went to the other side, bamm same thing, by this time me and my buddy are frustruated as hell, and just wanna get the back done.. torching, hammering, bending for another almost 2 hours on this bolt, it came out.. put everything back together and when we were cleaning up the tools, i dropped the strut and the top of the washer came off the strut and the bumpstop came off? wtf?

now my question is, what will happen if i dont put these bumpstops back in my tokico struts? any longterm problem? ruin my strut quicker? make me bottomout more??
or the bumpstops even supposed to be on aftermarket struts
