srr 4.7 or 4.9 final drive for d series s20 tranny?
which srr final drive would you get for your ex/si tranny 4.7 or 4.9? I have no idea how the gearing would be, anyone have any ideas? 5th gear 4k-4200 rpm at 80mph would be streetable for me. Anyone have any experiences with srr or any other companies?
Thanks
Thanks
Id get the 4.7 cause the 4.9 is mostly for auto X. and the 4.9 would drastically bring down your top speed. and if you are going for drag race. if my thinking and timing is right a 4.9 FD would be sending u down the quarter in 5th gear.

4.9
Seriously, what do you care what your top speed is, you will very likely never hit it on a road course or drag strip.
4.9 Will actually get it in B series gear ratios (not literally).

if you know anybody with 20in slicks you can mount those up and launch your car. that will get u like a 4.8xx final drive.
if u get a 4.7 your gears would be slightly i mean slightly longer, if u get the 4.9 the gears would be slightly shorter.
there is a very good tranny page by mista bone. ill try to find it and post it up

Stock EX/Si FD is 4.25, both 4.7 and 4.9 will make the gears shorter.
You can't run 20" slicks on a roadcourse.

who was asking about a road course
all i said was to bolt them up drive a block or 1/4mile with them to see how he likes it cus that will affect his final drive

ok, so I got the JDM Vti tranny in my LX, what's the FD on it? I put it in for auto-x and love it, it's a whole new beast... (love the LSD too)
cut off at over 160kph in 4th, guess that's about 100 mph, no need to go faster than that, have no idea what my top speed is though
