When getting a car inspected (2000 Civic Si) with an OBD2 to OBD1 conversion will it pass the OBD2 input inspection. I've heard mixed comments and was curious as to what is true. No sniffer test here in Texas only visual and OBD connector test. thanks in advance

 

i dont know about texas, but in new jersey it will not, all cars 1996 i believe and higher must be plugged into the comptuer to read any computer error codes. over here if your cars a 96+ and u have obd1 , i think its pretty tough to get an inspection.

 

you need the obdII plugged in to pass in Illinois.

 

going strictly by the law you will fail, the obd1 ecu will not reply to the obd2 scan tool, so it will show as all sensors failed. if you are lucky they will run an sniffer test ratehr than jstu fail you.

why n tjsut slap your stock obd2 ecu back in and pass???

 

that's probably what I'm going to have to do. just wanted to save the hassle. thanks for the responses
