Default car just got off tow truck: details inside! help plz ;(

switched to 4th gear, nothing major. Cruising along, pulling in 4th gear moderately. BAM... something loud to the right of me just made a huge ******* noise... felt like my tranny fell out of the car. Wow... whats this? my car won't go in gear... wtf? whats this? my clutch feels dead... on wait no it doesnt... it goes in, but its sticky... hmm... i cant get in gear... guess ill coast to a stop. Ring ring to AAA... car is on tow truck @ house. Here are the details.

Okay, so i have the car in the driveway, and i push the clutch in. Hmm... on the first 1/2 of hte press in it feels dead, then as i get closer to the floor it gets harder and harder to push it in. I get it in gear and start the car up - the motor runs perfect (new ECU in today too and i fixed my vacum leak [4 minutes before this incident btw]). I let out the clutch about 1cm... WHOA... im completely in gear... the clutch doesnt even have a function. Basically, it feels sticky, and the clutch engages like 1cm from the floor. No way im driving it like this... i dont even know if it will go in gear at normal speeds

Any help would be great, i hate my car.

-sam

sounds like the clutch seperated or fell apart maybe. Was it over rev'd like how the ACT clutch's will bust like that is you rev them to high. Just a total shot in the dark!

The disc exploded...

Remember to break the next disc in

Of course last time I got this question wrong. How it happened doesn't sound like this problem, but what it's doing now does..

Either way, you're going to have to do an exploratory anyhow..

It might be a defective disc perhaps? A buddy of mine had the same thing happen about 1500k after getting it. Needless to say, it was replaced by Acura, so you might wanna check that out. Jus my $.02 Oh yeah, i dont think the disc exploded because of not being properly broken in, i think itll usually just glaze up and not grab.

believe me, i broke it in right. I had to do a 1000 mile break in on my new block and i putt he clutch in at the same time. I think not taking the motor above 4k rpms for 500 miles is plenty enough time for it to break in.

sounds like the springs on the clutch disc went south.... Oh, and as far as "break in" period goes on a clutch... most clutches, unless SPECIFICALLY asked for by the manufacturer, don't have any real break in period... Just like a new set of OEM brake pads... put 'em on, and bed 'em in 5-6 times... should be good to go...
