Default 2001 Prelude door handles

OK i dont know if anyone else has had this problem... but i am wondering....
i've had my Prelude for under 3 years and already the paint on the hard plastic part of the door handle is starting to fade.... I've tried talking to a couple of Honda service personnel and one says they MIGHT be able to do something about it and the other said its just not covered in the warranty and left it as that. ...

My question... is anyone else having this problem and have you tried to resolve it thru Honda? or did u have to pay for a repair?

I think it sucks that its badly designed that way and Honda should replace or repaint the area... esp'ly since its under warranty still.. I've never had this problem with any prior cars.

Never had any problem like that on my 2000. I'm not sure if paint is covered by warranty, it should be.

Go back to the dealer and bitch, it that doesn't work, go bitch at another dealership. If that doesn't work, take it to another level and call Honda directly or call the BBB.

thanks for the replies.... I took it to a second Honda dealer and the guy said it was a combination of wear and grime.... how embarassing!! somehow i clean everything but that area...

so after i wiped off all the grime... I'm still missing the original luster and I can see a break in the area where scrubbed away the grime and where the area had no wear. i guess i'll try to wax the area and see if i can renew the shine....

ive had the same problem in my 01 lude, it appears to be dried out by over-excessive heat from the sun...i live in FL and my car stands out in the sun all day long so this is my guess why the shine of the material has become spotted and faded. this is also a problem with my friends 99 lude(he lives in FL as well). i really havent taken it to a honda dealership, but after reading this i dont think ill bother...well maybe

I have that problem, but it's not on the door handle. Mine is on the rear bumper, I have a feeling I will need to repaint the car soon. Or get a new one.
