my friend left his car outside with no hood for a long time. the motor was rained on plenty of times.

we tried to start it yesterday and it would start. we didn't have an intake on it and when you would try to start it, sparks would come out the TB. the car tries to turn over, but it won't turn on.

any ideas what could be messed cause he let it get rained on so many times?

 

hmmm....considering that its been standing out in the rain without a hood on it might be something electrical. Leaving a car without hood in the rain is never a good idea anyways

 

have u checked the spark plugs and stuff?

 

he put new spark plugs and cleaned the inside of the distributor cap.

so do you guys think his motor is messed up or its something electrical?

 

im thinking its electrical unless for some wierd reason water got inside the motor which i doubt since that can usually only happen if it sucks in the water through intake etc. so im thinking electrical

 

what if water got into where the spark plugs go? i don't know if he had any spark plugs in there to cover up the hole.

yes...i know...he's a real dumb ***.

i just want his motor so i want to know if its good or not.

 

if he didnt have anything there to cover up the hole than the water probably got inside somewhere. if thats the case then theres the big possibilty that the motor is f***ed. the only way to be for sure is to take it to a shop and have them look at it.

its just a dx motor, but i needed it to put in a crx so i can sell the crx.

he doesn't give a **** about his hatch. its one wasted hatch man. its all wrecked and fucked up.

this turned out to be that the spark plug wires weren't put on correctly on the distributor. we fixed them and the car started right up.

 

really happy for you that things turned out so well....you were really lucky

 

Make sure your getting fuel, make sure your getting sopark. If your getting fuel then check out the distributor thats what happen to my car
