knock sensor

how crucial is a knock sensor??? my car seems to run fine w/out it hooked up.
i checked my CEL's and im only throwin 23(knock sensor) and it runs like a charm... a very fast charm

Its not crucial till your engine actually knocks. At this point your computer will not be able to retard timing to try and prevent it/correct it.
