Is there any sort of trick to change my thermostat (92 CX stock) without draining the coolant or is it not possible???
thanks
thanks
Might as well just replace the coolant since you're going to have a drop pan down there anyways to catch the coolant off the thermostat housing. It could be done, but just spend the extra $5 on some new coolant.
Just get a pan stick it under and open pan. It won't drain the whole system completely (which I would do though).

My concern is that I've never changed coolant myself. Do I have to worry about getting air into the cooling system--i.e. needing to bleed the system?
not a big deal. You change thermostat. Then fill radiator up with fluid along with the resevior. Then you will see the bleeder valve up near the top hose near the motor. Start the car and with a LONG extention and socket open it when the fan turn on until bled. Then let everything cool top off fluids and DONE!
