Hi guys. I'm doin' a cover letter for a parts company right now and they do OEM parts. Anyway, OEM means <U>original equipment manufacturer </U>right?

anybody ever heard of LKQ. There supposed to be huge and publically traded on Nasdaq?

yes. (in regards to oem)

not sure about LKQ. They are a oem parts co, but no idea if they are traded on nasdak

I've never heard of them, but then again I don't work in the auto industry. They're only six years old but they are supposedly the largest oem recycler in the nation.

the job I applied for is to travel around NC and buy salvage cars at auctions for them to part our all over the country. Sounds cool to me. Probably doesn't pay that great but sound like fun. Then again, it's a huge company and upward mobility may be imminent.

While OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer, its usage varies. Sometimes it is used to refer to the brand of the car's manufacturer (e.g. Honda), such as a Honda oil filter. Sometimes it is used to refer to something designed for the particular car or provided as stock equipment, such as the 195/55-15 Bridgestone RE010 tire for the ITR. Technically, it is supposed to refer to parts of any brand that meet the specifications of the car's manufacturer.
