Ok I have a 97 Civic LX and a Wrecked 96 Integra LS what can i make?
Like the title says i may be aquiring a SOHC 97 civic lx 5spd for a truck vehicle i have for sale. my girlfriend has a 96 Integra LX automatic wrecked and totaled What parts can I take off the Integra and put on this civic... I have heard that i can swap heads to make it a DOHC? would the motor bolt up to the 5spd tranny? what options do i have here (besides the mint GSR leather interior in the integra which will be swapped) any help is appreciated.. I asm looking to do as many low cost upgrades to make this a nice daily driver i already have a TT stealth For racing so upgrades that cost over say 100 bcuks are almost outa the question.
No, you can't swap heads to make it DOHC. You can't take a DOHC head and SOHC block and make it DOH, nor vice a versa.
Stick around on Honda-Tech some more and Search. Whatever you want to know about, Search first, lots of information is available here on H-T.
You can swap the ENTIRE motor from the Integra LS (B18B) into your Civic. Sell your D16Y7 (your Civic LX) motor and tranny COMPLETE here Honda-Tech and buy a GSR transmission to mate to the Integra motor.
If you swap out the B18B into your Civic and run boost, you'll KILL the Stealth right out of the water. B18B LOVE boost since they are low compression motors. There's some semi-built B18B's here on Honda-Tech making WELL over 400whp/250wtq.
Sell the Stealth, put that $$ into your B18B and it'll be really nice and fast (depending if you're a ricer or not.

Well you can't put the head on teh sohc to make it dohc. Your only real option is to take the Ls Engine and get a 5 speed LS Tranny and install it in the civic. You will need a mixture of OEM Integra and Civic parts in order to make this work. It is a simple swap but it is going to take some money in order to do it. Do some searching on this site and you will find alot of information. All b series swaps use the same parts in order to install them in your car.
OK i wasn't sure... on the head swap thing but i bet it would blow my stealth outa the water I'm selling my stealth for a Camaro SS and plan to mod it extensivly. I'm only getting the civic because someone wants to do me an even trade for my 92 4runner.
Between the 2 cars wont i have enough parts to do a full swap (minus the tranny)?
and the civic is a 4dr i dunno if that makes a difference

If were a 92-95 you wouldn't need to buy more parts but since it is a 97 you need to get some of the mounts from a 99-2000 Civic SI. As for the wiring and ECU I beleive you can use the wiring you already have. The mounts you need are not that expensive and can be found in the classifieds section.
Anther option is known as the Mini me swap. You would use the Shortblock in your LX and add a SOHC Vtec head to it. If you get an EX Transmission then you have a good little runner. These swap run very good. Alot of guys on this board run this setup. It is the cheapest alternative you have. If you are interested I have the head and tranny that you need. i would be willing to do some trading on your LS shortblock. I included a link but Bauleycivic has a very good one if you do some searching. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=735196

Well i already sold the stealth so nah.. I bought a 98 SS camaro. The Civic will only be my daily driver for about 1/2 the year then next feb. a daily driver with the camaro for the sports car. I just figured with having this LS Integra around I could do something with it. but i dont think that I'll be using any parts off the integra because The only part I want besides the engine is the interior and i dont know how the back seats will fit being the civic is a 4dr. and the integra is a 2dr
On another note How reliable aree the D16Y7 engines? If I were to put it on the bottle shot shot could it hold for how long?

OK I decided to DO an integra LS motor swap with a GSR tranny.. WHat else will i need besides the 99-00 civic SI motor mounts? Can i use the computer out of the Integra even though it's automatic? is there a write up on this? thanks
dude u are so lost B and D do not go together u can buy a ls tranny and drop that ls motor into ur 97 and that would be ur best bet do some reasearch first and then hit us up all the interior seats and stuff can be swapped but who cares
good luck regardless dude.

Yes you can mount a gsr transmission to an ls block. In fact all bseries transmissions(except CRV) can be used on an LS block. The only mounts that are different is the rear bracket, the drivers side timing belt bracket, the rest of the LS brackets should work. The tranny torgue mount should be the same. You should get a different top tranny mount with the tranny. As for the A/c bracket it will depend on if you are using a/c. If not any b series bracket will work. if you want a/c and have the pump use the del sol p54 a/c bracket.

OK... that's better thanks.. I need the rear backet, drivers side timing belt bracket, Civic SI motor mounts (99-00) and an AC bracket out of a Del Sol and thats it right? I can use the LS ECU even though the car was auto and it will have gsr tranny and the civic wiring harness will fit right?

I dont know about the ecu so i wont even try to answer that. if you want to keep a/c and you are using the d series a/c compressor you are going to need the del sol bracket.
you also need the timing belt bracket and the rear bracket from a 99-2000 si. if you do not want a/c you can use any b series a/c mount and leave the idler pulley off.
