Default '95 Civic Hatchback... Is it worth it???

Hi, I'm looking at a '95 civic hatchback with a bad engine. it has a little rust but it's in nice shape. If I get it I would put the 1.5 engine in if from my Del Sol that has abour 54,000 miles on it. is it worth the time and money to do this if the car cost $500 dollers with a bad engine???

Depends on what you want from it. If a daily commuter or a beater then yes.

What the heck has intended purpose got to do with anything here - it's the value of the car with a blown engine that's being questioned. Why would you say it's only good if it's going to be a commuter or beater its an OK deal?

So a $500 95 hatch with a blown isn't worth buying if you intend on modifying it?

It depends on the rust damage. Even if its a little rust but say its on the rear quarters and front fenders. Then you have the task and cost of repairing the rust, then painting the car.

A car that has rust imo the rust may resurface. If your like me and dont have any talent to do either the cost could be anywhere between 2500 to 4500 for just basic body repairs and paint....that could all go to crap in a couple years anyways.

So yeah track car, drag car, beater or just a gas saver it may not be to bad.

We need PICS.

True, I didn't even notice the part about "a little rust", on me. Still, if it isn't too bad, it's a great deal. RangerDan said it right: PICS PICS PICS
