Drivetrain noise
Is it normal to hear a slight clunking noise when letting off the accelerator at very slow speeds? I have a 98 accord with 124k miles and 4-cyl. motor. At a standstill, if I accelerated quickly i cannot feel or hear nothing. But, if at a standstill when I accelerate VERY slowly SOMETIMES I hear and feel a slight clunk. Also, when coming to a stop i hear a slight clunk. Is this normal? I took the car to a HONDA dealership and had a foreman ride in the car with me to diagnose the possible problem. He says I have "drivetrain slack" and is normal with miles and age. IS THIS TRUE? Transmission shifts perfectly and fluid changed every 30k with genuine honda transmission fluid. All responses appreciated.
Yes, this is normal. With alot of milage on the car you clutch packs and valve bodys will wear. This will cause the car to shift slightly different then it did with less miles. Even with the fluid changed regularly there is still going to be wear on the internal parts. This will also be more pronounced when the tranny is cold.
