someone want to make my life easy?????
ok, i'm in the process of taking out my D16a6, and getting ready for putting in a DOHC ZC...i have all the wires out and i'm stuck on that freakin pin that holds on the shifter rod ( sorry not the official name)
so how do i get it out?
i bought a punch set and layed under the car for the past 20 minutes trying to tap it out..it didn't even move. Is there an easy way?
thanks everyone

Get an 8mm bolt, beat on it with a hammer. It will take a while unless you have a lift or something. Laying on your back banging upward is hard. It will seem like nothing is happening than all the sudden it will just start to pop out. Don't give up.
sorry about that, but being as that i didn't know the name i didn't know what to search. So i guess just a punch and a nice strong hit?

Yeah. Or remove the entire linkage along with the tranny.

when i pulled my a6, i just left the linkage attached and jacked the car up a bit more, then removed the motor and took the linkage off once the motor was sitting on the ground, that way you can swing at it with full force, its easy then.
ok i have spent the past 2 hours pounding on that ******..and it hasn't moved at all. I tryed something i remembered seeing...taping a screw driver to a jack stick thing and pounding on it.
i layed under the car again and tapped it from the bottom for another 45 mintues with a 8mm punch.
ok so if i can't find a specific punch for this tomorrow at Autozone, how else can i do it? drill the ****** out and put in a new one? or a bolt like i read? anything?
i'm so frustrated

Like some has already said, just take the tranny out with the linkage.
It's extremely easy to hammer it out when it out of the car.
The punch you need is an 8mm one. If you have an air chisel then slightly modify the tip a little to give it a little point and you have it out in no time.
Do not use too big of a hammer, use a regular size hammer. You need to hit it fast, and you can't do that with a heavy hammer.

i did what vitrox above did. Jack the car up and pull engine out with it on. then once its out if you have a long pointy AC bolt that held your compressor to the block use it, it works real well. perfect diameter and the point helps keep it in place. and when you get it out don't loose it! lol
so i'd crawl under the car further to the actual shifter and disconnect it there? and then i guess when i pull out the engine it will just snake its way out. Sounds like a plan.
now can i just put in a bolt in the little bastards place? makes sure its tight and everything but will it be ok?

lol, i would but my engine is really blown! thats why i am doing the ZC swap in the first place.
the way i figure it is that a person with almost no understanding of cars, and alot of common sence (me) can do an almost straight over swap to a DOHC ZC with almost no problems...
BUT i am running into them, not to rant or anything but
#1 the guy i bought the engine from took almost 2 weeks to send it out, and now that it is in transit i have no tracking #, no address where it will be, and no set time/date when it will arrive
#2 I've bought 2 radiators now and both have their problems (the first was an EG radiator, the 1/2 size:too tall) and the second was bought from radiator.com and it doesn't fit right i might have to take a Dremel to the little clips at the bottom
and now i can't find a place that has an engine hoist and will deliver (i have no truck and everyone i know with a truck hates my car because "its not a chevy or ford") so this keeps getting worse and worse. I wish i could find a non-ricer who would help me out here in Albuquerque.
anyways, thanks everyone, and as far as i'm concerned Honda-Tech is the best thing for the relationship between my CRX and I
