I think the 88s have 21 splines and the 89-91 have 20 splines....or maybe its the opposite, but I'm pretty sure that's it...
so can i use the axles from it if i get a different tranny? caus the 4 speed are diff from the 5 speed
88 dx 5 speed i have the axles steering knukles everyuthing except for a good clutch and pressure plate i even took the flywheel
yeah, then it'd work if you got an 89-91 tranny...seriously email trinity and ask her about that tranny...it should be in NE philly. let me know how much she says b/c I know how much I gave it to her for
its such a pain having an 88, as you can see. its tough finding parts when you've got an oddball...

i might just buy a clutch for it i should be able to get it cheap from a freind that works at honda or i can get it through my grandpops junkyard he gets the same discount as a shop would the 88 clutch be as good or should i get the 89 up i meanits the same gearing right?
if you wanna step up, you'd go w/ a 89-91 tranny, 90-91 flywheel and clutch b/c they're got mor surface area....
but otherwise, the 88's the same.

well i went up to pepboys and the price is 130 for the set and with a discount it should be alot cheaper from honda or the place my pop uses so im just gonna buy a new clutch its better than used i just will have to let it breakin and all will my stock std flywheel work or should i get the dx one cut and use that
I probably have a 91 clutch and flywheel laying around. If your interested. As far as the difference in splines, i have never actually seen an 88 tranny with smaller ones and i've worked on more than a few. Only difference i think is between the pressureplate/flywheel diameter. Probably the 4speed std model is the one w/ smaller splines. . . who knows. let me know. Oh, also the smaller diameter 88 clutch disks are only $12.50 at autozone if you decide to go that route.
well the 88 does have 21 spline and 89 up has 20 i went to pepboys and the guy looked it up 130 from there for the kit ill get it cheaper from where evr my grandpop goes so i guess im buying one
like i said, i think the difference is between the std and dx+ models, not just year. I have worked w/ plenty of 88 trannys and never came across the smaller splines. who knows.
i asked for the si and dx the #s were the same 21 spline and the 90 91 said 20 sline on the computer i have the print out in front of me the thing says 7 7/8" (200mm) x 21T
the other said 20T
the other said 20T
I'm not trying to argue with you bro, i'm just saying i never came across it. If you need anything i have then let me know.
