Default Better to loop or cap off cable VSS for b series?

As it states, on b series trannies there are 2 lines comming out, mine are capped and someone told me that this would wear out my tranny? They said to loop it with a hose. Personally I dont believe it matters one way or the other, but if posting this saves my hydro lsd tranny its all worth it.
Lemme know. Ryan

I looped the hose but I don't think it will matter if they are capped or looped. My friend capped his and he has never had a problem. I can't remember what the lines are for but I believe they are for something with powersteering. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

hey Ryan those lines are for power steering from what I heard looping them is the best thing to do. So you still using the cable vss then right? I don't see how it could wear out the tranny?

Throw a regular cable drive gear in there and sell me the one with the power steering hoses.

I have an ongoing project in the build and that's one of the parts I need for it!

Not 100% sure, but I think the stock D-series one works in the B-tranny.
Anyone know for sure?

I wouldnt cap it. Its an oil pump, so capping it isnt a good idea. Looping it will allow the oil to drain back.
Instead, i modified mine so that it would not build pressure.

when comparing them the actual gear looked identical..and how could it not be if the whole cable/assembly is interchangeable...unless we're talking about something different.

so you could pull the gear off the b-series (the one with the pump) and put it on the d-series right?

i have a b16a, i installed it myself...when it came time to reinstall the cable i was confused for 2 seconds on what to do with those weird looking tubes..then i just popped the d-series cable in there and have never had a problem since.

Ryan;

Loop it.

As for swapping out the "D" series; everybody seems to think that they interchange but I had some guys at a local shop show me both of them (out of the trans) and it looks like the placement of the gear is different. They said that it could lead to problems. So; get both in your hands at the same time and think about it first.

I'm not saying that it will not work (Honda Tuning has recommended it), but check it out first.

Wes

Thanks Wes. Would you also agree that having them capped would lead to future problems to the tranny? Thanks
