Remote start problems
I have a 97 accord lx with an after market remote starter w/pager. Not sure of the brand name anymore. Just received my car from the shipping company, and now when I remote start it, it keeps cutting off after 3 unsucessful tries. I dont know if its not idling right or what. But I never had this problem with the Viper 550esp. Can anyone help?
I duno if its the brand or not cuz i also have a viper brand. It works fine and i got it long time ago. My only idea is that you take it bak to where you installed it and ask whoever installed it for you.
my car would take like 2 tries sometimes to crank it over with the remote start...
but if i manually go into the car and start it, it works perfectly fine with no choke... i think it has something to do with the alarm, but seems like after i readjusted my idle back to stock, it hasnt been giving me that big of a problem anymore.

Was it working correctly before you had the car shipped?

Can you elaborate a little more? During those 3 tries, does the engine not start at all, or does it start and then stall?

Your car is equipped with an immobilizer system, and it sounds like the immobilizer is cutting the engine off. The way the immobilizer works is as follows:
Each one of your keys has a transponder that the PCM is programmed to recognize. Even if someone was to copy on of your keys, unless it's programmed into the PCM, the engine won't stay running when you start the car with it. Just like what it's doing now with the remote start.
When a remote start is installed in a car with the immobilizer system, it requires an add-on module that copies the transponder code from your key. Everytime you use the remote start, the module sends the copied digital signal to the PCM. Once the PCM recognizes this signal, the engine will stay running. If the module was removed, or otherwise lost the immobilizer code, the PCM will view any attempt to remote start the engine as an illegal start and cut off power to the fuel pump.
You will need to get a manual for your particular alarm to first: identify the module, and second: to reprogram it if it lost the code.
