I'm pretty sure IMV filmed for one of our competitors at RRII. Some of those clips are identical to the movie they produced for him. Actually, I believe "The Kid" bought that Silvia off one of his crew members.

Probably opening a whole can of worms here but it's hard to take someone seriously as an on-track competitor if they're out running the streets.

I personally know all the guys who produce those videos. They're all crazy.

At least he will probably crash before the end of hour 2 at the 24 hours of Daytona.

I bet Leh can Out drive you, your brother, and some guy your friend knows. So take that into consideration that he has driven with some of the biggest names in racing and they have all given him a . BTW when David Murry tells you your driving a cup car as fast as it can go it ussually means something..

Rather than sling insults around here (and I think I had some classics lined up) I'll gladly accept the challenge. I'm only a 4-5-6 finisher in my series so he should have no trouble beating me. Any chance of him being at VIR this weekend?

BTW - Everyone knows someone so name dropping won't get you anywhere around here.

classic comment of a non-driver. I don't know about other people but watching rich kids whose parents bought them a ride in an expensive racecar doesnt mean too much to me. They are a dime a dozen.
Go win a stars of karting competition then Ill willingly give props. Driving stupid on real roads just shows immaturity of a driver. Good way to hit a deer/dog/old lady who is walking down the road.

There is no doubt that the kid has some skills to be on the track at Rennsport....and dad can certainly afford a nice stable of toys ($150+K Porsche GT3 track car, for example).

David Murry might vouch for his skills on the track, but I doubt the guy would endorse the street stuff at end of the vid.

Keep it on the track.

All it took was paying the $375 entry fee.

Plus it looked like he was pushing it "10/10ths" past that 35 mph sign at the beginning....glad me or my wife and kids weren't pulling out onto that road.

whatever...

obviously you haven't seen the absolute glut of old ladies down here in FL or you wouldn't be so concerned

Christian, who recognizes the Silvia from a CFR autoX... I thought someone else was driving it though?

Yeah, we pull out in the ol minivan when he's 1/2 a mile away and he's on top of us in no time at that speed.

I can’t stand someone who says daddy must have bought him that car so he has no idea how to drive it. As you might know or might not know, time in a car will ultimately decrease lap times so will instruction just like you had at your NASA events. Leh has been to countless driving schools, spent multiple hours on a number of race tracks holds the record for GT3 cars at the New Barber motor sports complex, and always finishes in the top 3 of his class. So the question is whether he can or can’t drive. I know he can and the video is cool so what’s the flame about?

As far as a bet I think Leh would decline because he is not the kind of person to take anyone up on that. I am sure your opinion would change if you see him drive. I suggest you make it to a grand am race and watch before you start talking smack, but who am I to tell you what to do.

All of the off track footage was taken on a closed road with policy at each end stopping traffic. Sorry they cut that part out it was a controlled environment or at least much more controlled than many of the street racing footage that so many of us enjoy watching is. The Porsche’s racing at the end had nothing to do with Leh they were two totally different drivers that we don’t even know.

BTW I drive as well but this thread doesn't have anything to do with me.

I believe you misread the post. At no point does it suggest daddy bought him the car so he has no skills. It just says dad can afford a nice stable of toys. The main contention seems to be more about the street shots in the vid which could have been alleviated with a disclaimer about a professional driver on a closed course or something to that effect.

that would probably temper the reaction to this video. the GT3 footage was kinda neat, i must admit.

No one said anything about a bet... just a friendly competition to see if the kid can really drive. Fast cars don't make fast drivers.

edit: Actually, I was wrong. You were the one who said "I bet..."

And fast drivers don't always make fast racers.

The racing portion of the video is very cool....and I look forward to seeing him race at Daytona when I am there for the 24. I am always impressed with a good racer, and if the kid is good at this age, then perhaps he is a natural with a long impressive career ahead of him.

I wish they had put the disclaimer up....I'm watching this as a 35 year old who understands the difference and who also works at a racetrack most weekends of the year. I see what can happen when things go bad at speed...but fortunately (usually) with the appropriate safety equipment in place and no opposing (read: innocent) traffic around. I worry about the kids that I see with their tricked out Hondas (and Mustangs....and Mitsubishis...etc, etc) seeing on the street behavior on vids like this and emulating it on Saturday night.

Then again...it's gonna happen whether the vids promote it or not...

I agree, a disclaimer would be a good thing. (regarding the on-street footage).

Sorry for the miss representation. The lack of a disclaimer would lead anyone to believe that these shots were on open roads. Just knowing that they were done properly makes me think that everyone knows they are. My Bad. So I do apologize and please come out and see us at the 24 we will all be there supporting Leh for a Long 24 hours.

well looks like things settled down a little bit.

do you track work at VIR? i will be doing a grand-am race there in Oct.

i didnt want to get flamed about the vid. i figured it was pretty entertaining and i had no control over what the IMV films guys did. i just gave them some extra clips to ad to what they already had from rennsport. i like the outcome of the vid but i guess some of you dont.

There's a high level of sensitivity to street racing....especially on the road racing/board. The general thought is that, if you really want to prove who's the better driver, bring your car to the track. Timing and scoring doesn't lie.

I've been a corner worker at VIR for five seasons. The Grand Am race is, IMHO, the best event of the year at VIR.

The vid was well done (technically, artistically, etc)....just understand the sensitivity and you'll understand the flames.

When all of us have videos made about ourselves then we will be a little more receptive to this sort of "promotional" piece.

We also have no tolerance for street racing and that video started AND ended with general street JackAssery! I will admit that I was turned off right from the beginning because regardless of whether or not that stuff was done on a closed course, it is still intended to seem like it was on open public roads for its "target" audience and I still take issue with that.
