Default shifter sticks when cold

i've got a jdm b16a with y1 tranny and when my car has been sitting for a while, say overnight, the shifter is really tight and doesn't seem to want to move into gear. I have to work it a bit back and forth and run through the gears before i start out.

Once i get it moving and run through the gears its A1, no sticking, noises or anything its really smooth.

I also have a short shifter installed...maybe thats got something to do with it?

any ideas.

Thats what I thought was the problem with my D-series tranny, that or maybe the bushing. I found out at 60 mph that it was the synchros or something out of alignment and then they exploded all over the highway. I would check the bushings and shift linkage first, if its not that it could be more serious. Better take precautions now. - Darrell

tranny was rebuilt last year by a very reliable local guy that knows what he's doing. It doesn't sound or feel like bad syncros cold or warm.
