Poll. Crush Bent vs. Mandrel Bent piping
I am having a debate with a dsm owner who says he would rather have crush bent piping compared to mandrel bent piping. lol he was trying to tell me that most people would and wanted me to post a poll here to see what you guys would perfer mandrel bent piping vs crush bent. the only negative to mandrel bent piping would that it would cost a 100 dollars more. What would you take?
edit. he saying buying separate section custom exhaust that are mandrel bent compared to crush bent where u give it to a guy and he fixes it all for u real nice. like you would rather have the muffler guy do it for you but it would be crush bent.

lol. yea do it rite the first time instead of doing it over again and wasting money. its only crushed exhaust i bet the gains wont be that much off but still with cars i dunno i like for it not to be half assed.
If your *** is too broke to get mandrel bends for <$20 for a U-bend off the internet, than you shouldnt be trying to build a performance car.
Obviously if you're lucky enough to find someone locally with a mandrel machine, they'd probably charge more, but not from a place like JCWhitney.

I swear, every DSM guys I ever met are always talking about going the cheaper route, half-*** crap these do.
Then again, most of your Honda guys are ricer burners too, lol.
Mandrel, cause it flows better.
Take your buddy to McDonalds. Take a straw. Get one with the 90 degree mandrel and then crimp it and flow it. Oh wait, McDonalds is too much money for a DSM guy, go to Tace Bell instead!
Berto behind the scene testing, lol

DSM = $2k on car. Gonna spend $1000 on exhaust? That's half the car. Why not just get everything real cheap and run 11s for under 10k.
Or buy mandrel bent cuz of that 10cfm flow gets you 0.5whp...

crush bending the pipe will make the diameter smaller in the bends. mandrel bending, the pipe stays the same diameter.
mandrel bent.
Why? There's two reasons.
1) When you have the option to do something right and the option to do something half-***, why would you take the half *** option when the "right" way is only a bit more expensive.
2) You need every edge you can get with all motor hondas.

dont know kinda a tuff one i did mandrel and kinda dont like how it looks with all the welds and everything took like 6 pieaces crush looks nicer and its once peace and i have had both i didnt notice any difference on going to mandrel to tell you the truth
well there are several factors, pro and cons both ways
2.5" Crush bent.. might be as good as a 2.25" mandrel..
2.5" = greater area for air flow
minus the lose cause of the crush
would equal little less then the 2.25" quaility.. so its pointless
only pro is that if you run a straight back system. where there is no bends or not as many at all to get kinked up...
on another hand.. some ppl would rather that 2.5" crush vs going and welding all the U bends and 45's together.. there is a hassle charge hidden..
id suggest proper sizing Mandrel bent, in full length pipes ove bend by bend welding..
a system that is bend by bend by bend would easy show ripples in air flow from each bend being welded together.. i am sure it not 100% perfrectly matched and smooth on the inside of each connection!

Good points - but it's worth noting, you can get mandrel bend sections with swaged ends that keep the interior flow smooth after welding . . . .

and its possibily it only to add to the price?

asking if you want crushed over mandrel is like asking if you want this:
Crush Bent
Over this:
Mandrel Bent
