Timing Belt Replacement Necessary?
Hi folks,
I have a honda accord manual transmission, 145,000 miles.
I have to decide today whether to replace the timing belt away from home, or drive 1000 milse home and have the dealer replace it? SHould I take the chance?
thanks!

If you have no idea what your doing take it to the dealer. If that puppy snap's you could be looking at a motor replacment. At the very least some bent valves.
I agree, when was it last replaced. If it has never been done then I wouldn't wait any longer. If you do plan on doing this yourself, I would recomend getting a Helms. Follow the steps in there and your good. Also, it wouldn't hurt to run some searchs here on H-T to see what people have done and what problems people have had. That way you know what to expect.

there plenty more. Just search in the Accord forum for "timing belt".

If your timing belt is due for a change, then do it now. Would you rather spend a few hundred now or a thousand plus for new motor and labor? That's what I think about it.
