Anybody bought a suit lately?
I've come to an interesting cross roads of sorts. I like to epitomize it as shooting myself in the ***.
I have a really strict budget I'm working on to build myself a racecar and like many have professed, racing is one of the quickest ways known to man to liberate his hard earned cash.
The car is going to get its cage done in the next couple of days, the transmission is coming back soon, a bunch of consumables, I've yet to hear about the status of the motor etc..etc.
Lots of bills....mortgage...etc....
So here I am, at the bottom of my list which really should have been the very TOP
..... I need my personal safety gear. I have nothing but a nomex balaclava, some expired gloves and a M2000 helmet.
I came across the Sparco driver's package here:
http://www.curpiermotorsport.c...age=1
Anybody think this deal is too good to be true? Anybody want to share the membership fee? Anybody bought this package from them before?

Anybody found a better deal? I've done my fair share of searching on HT.com and elsewhere and so far nothing can even come close to what curpier is offering.
Yes.... I am pleased to admit I have burned down all my plastic, the piggy bank is bacon and you're really in trouble when your parents don't even want to lend you money.......
I shoulda started with drugs instead of cars....

Depending on the series you are planning on participating in, you might need slightly different gear. I assume you're in BC - check with the local CASC office for more info in terms on minimum requirements.

Let this post be an example to the first timers who still think that building a race car is a better idea than buying one used.

I found a sick deal on a 3 layer momo suit a few months back for like 1/2 off, but not nearly as good of a package of what you found...
Not sure but you may need to add nomex underwear to your item list since the suit you're buying is 2-layer?... not sure what the rules are where you plan to race.

I need to get one at some point as well.. what does the membership fee consist of? Think Adam and them would be against people splitting it?

That's bullshit guys.... We all know the best way to do things is to spend every spare moment wrenching on the car, sweating and dying from dehydration working in the sun, swearing till the neighbors complain etc...etc.
Only the weak would want to go out with their friends.... hell what kinda person has friends these days anyway?
=end useless rant=
I'm still waiting for Adam Curpier from Curpier Motorsports to reply to see if we can maybe put together a groupbuy or sorts to get an even better deal!

I too need all that equipment (sans neck donut), but I really would prefer a 3 layer suit. According to some other site, the Sparco Fashion 5 will only give you about 9 seconds of burn time. That ain't much time.
where are they out of(england, europe, canada), this deal seems to be too good to be true. How much is the shippping? there must be a catch?
No catch. We are a distributor for Primm Racing and Demon-Tweeks out of the UK. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to IM me.

according to the thread started in the R forum, small changes like that could be made on an individual basis and still stay a part of the deal.. we need at least 5 people to make it happen though.. talk to RagingAngel if you're in..

how long does it take to get the package, and what certifications(SFI, FIA, etc.) does it come with? What s the shipping time, and will sparco warranty this?

I'm going to let Adam handle this as I'm not going to pretend to know everything that's going on with certifications....But according to the sparcousa.com site, the fashion 5 suit does carry the SFI rating of 3.2A/5.
This means, that even if it is 2layer, it can be worn without fireproof undies.....w00T!
I'm not certain if the standards will be different....do the UK Sparco suits have FIA ratings only and not SFI? I believe there is a link on the curpiermotorsport.com site, but gotta run, cage builder is waiting!

ok well thats still misses the question, how long for shipping, how much for shipping, and i take it this sparco gear is from overseas? So the chance of exchange in the case of a wrong size would take an extended amount of time. with all that stuff shipping must be a ton. ???

Shipping time for is approx 7-14 days. For items in stock, quicker. Shipping will be from my location in NY via UPS ground. All the items are FIA approved not SFI. Exchanges for other sizes can be made. I will be leaving for VIR on Thur. Morning, but will be checking my e-mail over the weekend.

sparco stuff that's not SFI certified? is that unusual? I thought most US series required the SFI.. or does the FIA override that usually?
