Default i just got cell code 23 (knock sensor) wheres a good place to start?

96 gsr motor running obd1. motor just went in and at first only threw code 41 (o2 sensor) cuz i don't have exhaust hooked up yet and don't have an o2. i dunno when exactly it started throwing 23 but i just know it wasn't happening when it first fired up. i think it starts throwing knock sensor after its warmed up.

anyways if anyonme could give me some things to check that would be great, i don't know how to trouble shoot knock sensors.

thanks

Thats a easy one to trouble shoot I would think. Reset the ecu, and check to see if it returns. Then, make sure that the wire going to the ecu is not crossed or broken, then make sure the wire is going to the correct place on the ecu, if you have a obd0-1 harness it will be labeled. If all this checks out, replace the KS itself with a known good one.
You can also refer to the steps in the service manual, but this is what I would do.

yes...

there are two wires coiming off the knock sensor... one goes to the ecu and one goes to ground right? one wire is thicker and is shielded...
