Timing stuck at 0 Deg. BTDC...please help!
I recently bought an inductive timing gun to finally check my timing since it hasn't felt right ever since my timing belt broke and had it replaced. Anyways, did everything the Helms said...warmed up the car, jumped the service connector (car idleing at 750 RPM), connected timing gun to battery and #1 spark plug wire, etc...
Now when I looked directly down at the pointer, it was pointing at the white 0 Deg. BTDC!!! So I turned my distributor counter-clockwise to advance as far as it would go, and the timing didn't budge!!! It's still reading 0...
Anyone have a remedy to correct this??? What are my possible problems???
Need expert help ASAP!

That is quite strange. Does your timing light have an advance on it?

The advance on the timing light adjusts where the white mark appears. You adjust the light until the mark reads 0 BTDC and the reading ion the timing light is your advance.
I have no idea what is happening with your car. Sorry.

Forget the timing light, it reads ignition timing, which shouldn't need to be changed when replacing the timing belt (although you will probably need it now that you moved the distributor
). Turn the crank pulley until the TDC mark lines up with the pointer, then check to make sure the cam gears both point up with the index marks lining up with each other. If it all lines up then it is on there correctly. If not then one or both cams may be off a tooth or more, and you will need to pull the belt off the cam gears and adjust it.
Now I do suppose that since the timing light is firing when the crank is at 0 deg. then I suspect the timing gears are way off. I'm surprised the car even runs. Check the alignment of the crank and cam gears ASAP.
