Default Timing problem!

Hi. I was heading to verify the timing on my h22a and ,I'm not sure if it's realy normal but if I put the timing light clamp on cyl. no.1 near spark plug arrow facing the plug, the timing is 15 witch is ok... but now, if I put the clamp on same wire but near the distributor......then the timing is like 52...????what does that means??? Ok or not? and why... And where on the wire are we suppose to check timing?? thanks to everyone...

timing can be made simple. set your timing to around neutral (if you were smart and marked b4 you moved distributor). Advance it a couple degrees (towards firewall or untill you hear a slight pinging. Then retard (towards front) it a couple degrees untill the sounds go away. You can leave distributor bolts loose so you just have to nudge dizzy to make advance or retard (not too loose though) while your car is running. If you retard too much your car will sputter. if advance too far it will ping. Find a happy medium. Also when you drive if it seems sluggish you went too far one way or another. Your timing is off and is making your motor inefficient! (even more so) OR go to part source and let them test your timing for freee eeeeeeeeeee weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

ok thanks for that but there is not the problem.. I know how to adjust timing. I want to know if it's normal to have two different readings on both ends of the cyl. 1 wire???

It's probably picking up the signal noise from the other wires. Keep it as close to the plug as possible to prevent this.
