11k + 7k engine+salvaged title = 18k. I agree, it's a little steep. I have seen them go in mint condition for 18k and as low as 11-12k with salvaged title but fully restored.

When did our motors cost $7000 to repair? I think that is a pretty steep estimate.

I understand why Ryan made this move though...he already had much pain b4 when restoring the car.

His rod went through the block, which makes it just about the most expensive motor rebuild scenario. Putting a used motor in it would be cheaper.
I think I'd look at hybrid scenarios before I paid for a C5 block.

FWIW, my plan was to rebuild with an LS block for turbo. It was going to cost me $3150 for a fully sleeved 84.5mm bottom end, Pauter rods, CP forged pistons, ACL bearings, micro polished and balanced crank, and full balance of the assembly. Throw that into the car with a VTEC head and its already faster than a stock ITR. Unfortunately I do not have the money or patience to fix it anymore. Anyone that wants to throw another ITR motor in this car is wasting their money IMO. There are much better routes to take. B20 long blocks go for $650!!!!
Potentially you could have a 2L ITR with B20 block running again for less than $1000!!!

lowered to $10,000
Get yourself a better than stock ITR for around $12,000 after fixing it. Hell of a deal if you ask me. Depending on your skills and/or hook ups you could do it even cheaper.
