MR2= E Stock

Civic= Street Modified

You'd probably be more competitive in the MR2

This may help a little with any classification questions:

I think we should put in the FAQ, "if you don't know what your class is, you're probably street mod".

KillaB-

The MR2 would be in E Stock. As of right now, that is the car to have in the class. The '93 is the preferred model, specifically if it is a hardtop.

This is definitely going to be the car you want to use to autocross. The Civic will just get killed in Street Mod, but if you decide to get serious about autocross, the MR2 will go a long way towards making you competitive.

An MR2 is an excellent car to learn in. It is a very good handling car, but will bite you if you push it too far. One race tires it is fairly easy to drive, even for a complete noob.

My suggestion is to just start taking the MR2 to events and get lots and lots of seat time. Do not touch anything on the car yet mod wise. When I started, I had old, dry-rotted Michelin MXV4s, and with enough practice I was able to come within 2 seconds of other E Stock drivers on race tires.

When you think you are ready to start prepping the car to be competitive, the amount of money it takes to prep the car is fairly low. For under $1,000 you can have a car that will be very competitive locally, and fairly close to being competitive nationally.

For more on the MR2, I suggest going to the http://www.mr2oc.com autocross forum, there are many members there who can help you out. Anything posted by a guy named Randy, take as gospel.

if the civic is gutted pretty much at all, you will be placed in D MOD. if not then yes you will be in street mod.
