Default Check engine light? 95 gsr low on oil runs like **** at 6000rpms. Help?

I have a 95 integra gsr. The engine light has been coming on in 4th gear at about 6000rpms (Runs sluggish)and then goes off when the car is shut off and then on. I also hear a weard sputtering sound. I just recently checked the oil and it is very very low. Havent put any oil in yet (Monday morning). I just read a post on here saying the vtech dosent really work when your low on oil. Do you think there has been some damage? Or do you think the oil will solve the problem. The car runs great at lower rpms. Please give me some advice.

Thanks

IMO: you probably dont have any damage, but you NEED to put some oil in the engine and find out what's causing it to burn/leak oil.

My GSR did that **** a while back. The CEL wouldnt hold and I couldnt pull the code. I dunno why. But I later found out it was because I ran 5 gallons of C13 through my engine and fried out my 02 sensor. Was worth it tho :D

Then month later it did it again, when I was experimenting with some homeade C13 (Xylene Mythenol mixture), got the mixture wrong. Was doing about 120 down the highway and the engine decided it wouldnt combust it........ I heard a similar sputtering sound.

I'm willing to bet the CEL is a missfire code or 02 sensor.

But you need to do something about the oil.

Before I sent my block to the shop to get sleeved and whatnot, my GSR swap burned more oil than any other car I had ever seen, alot of people can vouch for me on that also haha. It ended up being the piston rings, hopefully for you its something else though. I ended up driving the engine like it was for about 2 years, just adding a quart every 50-100 miles or so (I always had a case of cheap cheap oil in the back )

The car just started doing it. The car is never really driven that hard at all. It just passed smog in Ca and the car only has 99k on it. The car also had new plugs put in at 90k.

Pull the CEL code from your computer. I'm guessing the VTEC pressure switch was causing your CEL and poor power. As per above (milo), did you add oil yet?

Its definatly a good idea to check your oil often on older gsr's, since they have a habit of burning some.
