Default My CRX feels so loose and unstable.... Where do I start looking? Help!

Since I have swapped in my B20, the car just seems unstable at any speed. It viberates ( I know this is due to axle issues cause mine were used and worn out, but the shaking seemed worse after I installed a new autozone axle???) and shakes. It wonders at high speeds or while under hard acceleration. Im wondering if I need a new steering rack or new tie rods or tie rod ends? I hate this feeling in my car and I want it to feel stable when accelerating. I know that the car is prolly due for a front end alignment since its been about a year since I had my last one done. Im just wondering what are some very cost effective ways to make if feel more stable and what is up with the steering. I have some poly strut rod bushings that I have yet to install and Im hoping that they will help with wheel hop and possibly make the car feel a bit more stable. Any suggestions are welcome. Honnestly my car feels like its just gonna fall apart. I have check'd all the suspension bolts and axles are in tight ect ect and looked for anything simple that might be an issue.

tia

Have you tried checking your wheel alignment?

I said that it prolly does need one, just wondering what else might be a contributing factor.

Jack it up and start searching under there.
Look for worn ball joints, worn tires, bar wheel bearings, broken bushings, dead animals, spiders, gremlins, etc.

Everything looks good accept the drivers side tie has a ripped boot and the passenger side LCA bushing has a slight crack in it. Other then that, everything else looks fine..... I dunno what else to look for...

Lift it and look for anything that isn't normal or something that is broke.

That would be a big factor, pulling you motor and putting a new one in , and removing key suspension componets like a crossmember, and removeing the axles can cause the car to get out of alignment.

i did my b16 swap and didnt get it aligned afterwards, my tires lasted 3 weeks and the insides were bald from the toe being way fucked, i hated driving it was soo loose.

ya i would say go in for an alinement, the added weight may have caused camber/caster problems in the frontend. if everything seems fine from your inspection, possibly try larger torsion bars to help keep everything tight.

I have installed a camber kit and have had it aligned since I did the swap. I guess I'll go in and have it done again...

You think you got it bad. When the Vtec and boost kicks in on my CRX the car wonders left and right. It drives fine when not boosting but once boost is there the car is going everywhere except straight.

I narrow it down to two things for me. The Radius rod bushings, and my motor alignment.

What motor mounts are you using?? what axles??

i would take a look at your crossmember. it is very possible that your crossmember could be lose, or broken. what you described sounds like the crossmember is what is giving you the problem.

Is it the front or the rear that is feeling unstable?

Im using 90-93 teg axles and int. shaft. I got my mounts from camp 1320. They are just like HASports... The car sure is doing a good job of delaying boost. 3rd and 4th syncro are about to go.... lame....

I am unfortunately, that is why I am staying out of boost till I get that fixed.

Driving normal is no problem, my alignment is straight.

I will have to check my crossmember to see if there are any cracks or anything of the sort.
