i have a 94 ls, i changed the belt and w-pump at 135k miles. when i looked at teh old belt, it looked fine, but its only preventative maintenance to change it.
and, the condition of the belt can vary depending on how the engine was treated.

is it about 100k miles for the water pump too? i know that most people replace it along with the belt just because its easier to get it all done at once. but i dont think my water pump has been replaced yet and im at 102k miles. is it time to change it out? and are there any symptoms of a bad water pump?

honda quotes 3.2 hours for timing belt/water pump replacement. average dealership hourly charge is $75 per. you also have to buy the parts.

if you dont know, i wouldn't recomend doing it by yourself. its actually an easy job, but if you dont feel like paying a shop (generic shops charge a whole lot less than honda does, just USE HONDA PARTS!) get a buddy that has done it before, buy him a case of beverages or take him to lunch or something.

honda "upped"the service intervals on the belts, so they could say"our cars does not need major service work untill pass 100k miles"
its the same belt and water pump. i still would change it sooner.
