i've heard from a few trustworthy people that the portflow setup is good enough for it but havent had any personal experience.if you dont already own them go with j.g. or any number of others which are proven. the prices on these items arent drastically different.

Portflows work fine, just ask mike K. If you have portflows stick with them, if you have money and the head is off just go ahead and get the Juns. The portflows do work though.

check the spring pressure and coil bind of the jun springs vs. the itr outer/portflow inner combo... then you'll see why i laugh at people who waste their money on jun valvetrain.

How much lift can the ITR outer spring before it binds?
How much for the ITR inner spring before it binds?
How much for the portflow spring before it binds?

Is that test done with just the inner springs? I dont think portflow has outer and inner springs?

But according to the chart ITR springs coil bind at 12mm, Geez doesnt the JUN cams have 12mm lift or am I missing something?

portflow/ITR does NOT coil bind with the JUN3 cams. checked that already.

i ran portflow inner/ITR yellow outter with crower ti retainers with jun 3's before. 9300 rpm. no problemo. currently using the same setup with skunk2 cams to 9500 rpm.

Frank,

yeah, I also wanna know which cams you prefer. I also have the Skunk2 cams, but i still have the stock springs and retainers with stock redline.

So is the limiting factor of the coil bind the ITR inner springs? Or will they not bind either??

If there are a couple of guys running the JUN cams with those springs that means:
1. JUN is not 12mm lift OR
2. The specs on that website is wrong

I am thinking that it might be no. 2.

Oh, What outer spring are you using on the exhaust side?

the test was done by Tom at Portflow so you can be sure Tom did it carefully.

ITR springs would be the yellow outter and yellow inner
Portflow would be the yellow ITR outter and portflow inner

as the chart says the Portflow/ITR combo provides plenty of stiffness and coilbind safety. you can use any cam up to 12.5 mm lift no problem.

i had jun 3's in the car for a day on the dyno only... so i can't comment on the street performance. it was only marginally better than the CTR cams i had peak #'s wise. CTR was 175 whp and 117 ft-lbs, JUN3 was 178 whp and 118 ft-lbs. how ever the JUN3 did beat the CTR considerably after 8500. since the engine is basically stock other than valve train one can make argument with the long duration of JUN3 it would've worked well with a high CR engine. who knows. from the graph the jun3 worked great although its non-vtec performance was pretty weak compared to CTR's. however i did not tune the gears because it already has such long duartion. i wasn't sure what the adjustment window is... maybe it could've gained the low end back some. it was about 5 ft-lbs less than CTR below vtec.

i have NOT dyno the skunk2 cams in my car, they do feel awesome and pulls to 9500 rpm. people are confusing the graph i posted. it is my motor with jun3 cams vs. a totally seperate world challenge built b16a with skunk2 cams.
