Help...$220 +$75 labour for a new seatbelt winding/locking peice..read
ok first off my seatbelt is fully extended and will not wind back up into the side of the car or where ever it goes, so wtf i went to acura today they took my seatbelt apart i guess and found out that the peice that winds up and locks the seatbelt when its jerked is broke, they told me $220 for the new peice +$75 for the labour, i was now looking at the momo 3-point harness for 120$ but BUT it takes out the seat behind me because it has to be bolted to the space where a person would sit behind me...is there any place where i can get that acura peice for a LOT cheeper than 220$ CDN or any other harness where i can still have use of my backseat on the drivers side??
Junk Yard. When you take it off the junker take notes on how you took it off. Reverse the order of the note and put it on your car...
the place said they do replace like frayed seatbelts but the winding/locking part isnt apart of that warrenty
That sounds like a line of crap. If the seat belt in your car doesn't work, then it effectively cannot be driven on the highways because it would fail a safety inspection.
If I recall (I don't have the book in front of me), my Helms guide + service bulletins says that all seat belts are replaced for free as long as the car is drivable on the road (i.e. as long as it would pass a safety inspection).
I would take it to another dealer, and even call a couple dealers out of your area, and ask them about repairing that mechanism.

i thought anything that had to do with seatbelts was a lifetime warranty? i know they were on my 92 accord and my 89 legend....because i got the seatbelts fixed/replaced in both of those
Precisely!
I had the seatbelts replaced in my friends late 80's civic (and there wasnt anything wrong with them except very light fading and VERY slight fraying on one side.)
