right now im still breaking in my motor but I was wondering when I turn up the boost and get my hondata retuned should I upgrade to a MSD ignition? I plan on making close to 400whp...
will the stock ignition hold up or should I upgrade? If i do go with msd which do u recommend for a street driven car? MSD 6a? any input is appreciated, thanks!

I ran stock ignition until I turned up the boost and am also making over 400whp. It started to misfire at high boost. I chose to go with stock Honda wires with the MSD SCI ignition box, cap and external coil. Fixed the misfire issue with no problems.
I would upgrade IMO.

Did you have all new ignition wires and whatnot when you were having the misfiring issues? Just curious because my understanding is that 400whp is fine with hondas ignition

I made 400 whp stock and it started brreaking up top end....msd wires and a msd coil and its good..you dont really need a Multiple spark discharge thats more for low end...the coil is what is need...HVC coil..

well i plan on cranking the boost and getting it retuned when im done breaking it in... i have the money to buy it, its just a matter of do i need it? like i could spend the money on getting a apexi avc-r instead of getting a MBC...
i would have to stay stock unless you start having problems on the dyno then youll know if you need some other ignition mods. You have to remember if you get that **** and tune it with it you can always have problems. i would keep it as simple as possiable. none of that unnecessary bullshit. can really make it easier in the long run.
hey i would upgrade if i was you because its safer for you because your going to be pushing alot of power. i have a 350hp car and i run the digital 6 and the ss coil with the stock ngk wires and my car runs great. your going to need this upgrade if u want your car to run the best it can because your going to have a lot fuel and you want to beale to burn it all up. check out summit they have the digital 6 for like 279 and the coil is like 30bucks snice u have the money i would do it

Summit does not have good prices on MSD products IMO
I too would upgrade if you have the $$. If you encounter any problems on the dyno or durning tuning due to ignition you wont have an msd or whatever ignition you chose with you. That means spending more $$ on more tuning. Also it is not a good idea to add the ignition after tuning due to the fact that it WILL affect your tune and would be best to be tuned with it installed.

What about using a SCI w/ MSD coil on a SC'd B18C5 @ 10psi? I've got the SCI sitting on the shelf that I've had for a while & not sure if I should use it or not. I figure it's worth a try.

How exactly do you use the coil only?
How exactly do you use the coil only?

this is what happens when you car misfires due to ignition issue..
this dyno is recently
i can't wait to order my
msd digital 6, ss coil blaster, msd cap, oem acura distributor rotor, ngk wires and ngk 2 step colder plugs
should solve the problem
i would recommend upgrading so when your on the dyno you don't waste dyno time and can't crank the boost up due to this problem.....i guess its really the abbuse u put ti through how much wear and tear is on your ignition system....nad how you maintain it guess you can stay stock if its permits.
