amp ground/capacitor needed?/some questions
i have a honda accord 98 v6 ...i havea 520w rms 4-ch amp to power the rear and the sub..and im adding a 300w rms 2-ch amp to power the fronts..will i need a capacitor..or can i do without it..i dun really pump the subwoofer much and the rears are there just as ambient support basically..i prefer nice clean sound..
where is a good spot for a ground if i decide to put the 2nd amp under either the driver or passenger seat?
if i do need a capacitor..is it ok to just run it to one of the amps..becasue i don't really want to run a dblock..and just gonna run 2 pwires..and can the remote wire power 3 things or would i need a relay
i know i have a lot of questions..but thanks in advance (=

First off, I would add a cap to your setup. Even if you don't romp on your system all the time, it will give you more consistent power. What gauge wire do you have running to them???
For a ground on the second amp, if you are putting it under a seat, you can go right to one of the seat bolts. I usually make my own ground, but that will work fine. You should actually have all the grounds for your system going to the same place, but if its not possible, it'll work fine.
If you are going to run the cap to one specific amp, run it to the one that you are using for your sub. That amp will be sucking the most juice. You can also use the cap itself as a distribution block.....just hook your main power in, and 2 power wires out for both your amps.
You shouldn't need a relay on the remote....it won't hurt though. Lemme know if you need help....I can tell ya exactly how to wire it in....
I was also thinking, since you have a 4 channel, why not run it to your fronts and rears, and designate the 2 channel for your sub....just a thought.

thanks for the help..i got 4 gauge wire..i dunno if it will fit like that in the capacitor i can make it work some how..only reason was at first i only powered the rears and the sub..but i realized that the sound would be all form the rear... i tried fading it but it just don't sound nice so i figure if i power the fronts, i can create a better soundstage without distortion..so i was just gonna splice the harness and power the fronts with a shorter wire and put the amp under the seat
two last questions...
is it safe to run a dblock from a 4 ga wire from battery that is fused with 80a and leading out wiht 4 ga wire to each amp and cap..its all i have ?
and when i splice the harness cause its too much of a pain to go through the door to power the fronts..im gonna cut the front speakers wire in the harness..so i connect the wire from the amp to both wires or do i cap off teh head unit side of the wire..and just connect the wire from the amp to the speaker side..
thanks (=

Yeah it should be fine....as long as you are fused, the worst you'll do is blow a fuse
Yes, just cap off the head unit side and hook into the harness for the car...

I would hold off on the capacitor and see how those amps run. I have 1400+ watts on a stock alternator with little dimming, no caps.
To be on the safe side on the grouding, you can run a smaller gauge (10 awg) between the two amps' grounding points to avoid any ground loop issues.
It can get mighty toasty under the seats as there is little ventilation... keep an eye on the temperature there.
