ok well you'd have to narrow down where its coming from. left side? right side? head? bottom end? it could be your valves still aren't adj. properly, or maybe your timign belt is too tight, it could be many things.. maybe its comign from your alternator... and it only started after you took it to the shop? i'd take it back and ask. best idea

My B20B tick a lot, I checked it out yesterday. My mechanic said its normal for your lifters to make that sound on big displacement engines!

all these engines tick somewhat, it's the injection, don't sweat it

i don't think there is a way to "fix" it, like i said, they all tick, it shouldn't be loud enough to hear past the hood though, you should only hear it when you're in the engine bay

There is an additive you can add to your oil which helps reduce the noise. I put some in my teg and it worked quite well. 4got what it was called but you can get it from basically any automotive shop

It sounds like your lifters are sticking on your valves. How many miles on the motor?

With that many miles those valves have had some work and a valve adjustment isnt going to fix those caked on crusty valves and retainers there sticking and the valves are not being able to open and close correctly. It would run a million times better after you redo the internals of the head also if the money is able do a mild port and polish while your in there.

or, even cheaper, maybe buy a low mileage b20b/z or b18b head from HT. they go for like $50 sometimes if your timing is right.
