Another my car stalls thread...
I've read the other stall threads which hasn't solved my problem. My car is highly modified: Toda B cams, pistons, cam pulleys, HKS Fcon, FPR, bigger injectors and fuel pump...
My car has stalled on several occasions: first time was when I was going down a highway in 4th gear, as I let off the throttle, the car just shut off by itself!
Then yesterday, as I was idling, it shut off again. Lastly today, as I was coming to a stop at the light, dead again.
Now in all 3 cases, when I tried to start it up again, it wouldnt, it would almost fire up, but die. Then if I wait for 5-10 mins, it would start up fine again.
The car idles perfectly fine, and the distributor and fuel filter have just been recently changed. I've checked the IACV which is fine.
Now what could be causing this? The strange thing is I cant restart the car right away, any ideas what problems I might have?

2 things come to mind. fuel or spark. if you have a fuel pressure guage, monitor that. secondly i would check out your plugs, wires and distributor.. possibly change your cap and rotor.. but i'm a rookie.. so don't listen to me
When your car stalled on the highway in 4th gear, was the clutch engaged or were you shifting?
I agree with julow with the fuel or spark assessment. If the fuel pump is cutting out, the engine would die regardless of RPM. Do you think you could have debris in your fuel tank that is blocking the fuel pump inlet screen? If the inlet is blocked, it could take a few minutes for the blockage to fall away.
If an injector is sticking, the idle would be rough and the car could stall. If it is periodic a short in your distirbutor, your car would die regardless of RPM.
When your car will not restart, do you smell a strong gasoline odor from the exhaust? Perhaps you could carry an extra set of spark plugs to test the spark if the car dies again. Good luck!

Do you have a lightweight flywheel? How does the car idle when it does idle?
Does it only happen when you let off the throttle?
I had a similar problem with my engine and a lightweight flywheel was the culprit. I raised the idle to around 1000rpm and now when the car decelerates it has enough rpm to catch before it stalls. I hope this makes sense.

The time it died in 4th, i wasnt shifting, I was off the throttle just letting it coast. The car idles around 900 rpms, and doesnt fluctuate. I have a toda lightweight flywheel and spoon clutch, I've had these for a while and never had this problem before, tho it does seem to rattle more at low rpms these days.
Dogginator I'll try to check those things u mentioned.

How many miles on the car?
I don't think it would cause your car to stall but a bad main relay could keep it from restarting after a stall. Is it really hot inside the cabin when your not able to restart it?

main fuel relay will definitely cause the hard starting after the stall... as for the stall check the plugs/spark/fuel filter/timing etc.
