Default Is it difficult to change wheel bearings???

How hard is it to change a wheel bearing (rear) on a fifth gen. How much time should this take to do?? If anyone could provide some insight on this.... thanks..

Just support the vehicle properly
remove wheel
Remove brake caliper and rotor/hub (whicever is relevant to you)
Then remove hub cap, nut, washer and hub bearing assembly. Replace hub and bearing assembly as a unit.

Put it back to gether and torque it all to spec....

Brake line clamp bolts ......16ft/lbs = 22N.m
Splindle nut.......................136ft/lbs = 185N.m
Lug Nuts............................81ft/lbs = 110N.m
Brake Caliper mounting bolts....81ft/lbs = 110

I don't think you can just buy the bearing. You have to buy the hub with the bearing already pressed in (honda dealership). Assuming you did have a magical bearing, you would still need to get it pressed in and out.

No newbie he has stated this is a rear nuckle.
and FYI You can buy a set of wheel bearing for the front but you need the correct tools to press them in.

the hub bearing assemble bolts onto the nuckle at the rear

BTW, if you don't have a press for the bearing, put the bearing in the freezer, and heat up your rotor. The bearing should just drop in.

Autozone has the rear hub for around $60. Everywhere else I looked they wanted over $100.

As for the fronts, if you're in with your local shop well, they might do it for free. The honda dealership here did it for me (I wasn't swapping the bearing its self, but having it moved from one knuckle to another)

Yes . . . . For the front you need a press. For the rear you don't.

So just get a new hub/bearing assembly, a new spindle nut & cap, and a helms. All the basic tools (socket set, torque wrench, etc), plus a big socket for the spindle nut & a good size breaker bar to get it off. Some kind of small punch or chisel to pry up the "staked" part of the spindle nut. Should be about it . . . .
