not sure if my rods are shot.....
i had a gsr block with CTR standard size pistons and the motor was blowing alot of smoke and didnt seem to be running right.....so today i dropped the motor and stripped it completely......the rings look burnt and the cylinders were scorn slightly.....now heres my questions...my gsr rods which i was going to use for my next build have discoloration towards the piston....it is slightly blue and purple...is there something wrong here? thanx BRYAN
prolly from when the CTR's were pressed on to them.
i dont think it will be a problem, eventhough if it was done right that shouldnt have happend

the bluish/purple color you see on the pin end of the rod is normal. this is caused by heating up the rod with a acetylene torch or rod heater in order to slide the wrist pin through the pin bore, when hanging the pistons onto the rods. this is only done on a rod that is use in a press fit application
