2004 civic coupe LX.
Bought Wiring harness and dash kit. I have a couple questions. I have an amp and 2 subs in my car, which was install with a Hi-lo converter on my factory deck.
What do I do with the hi-lo conveter? and those red and black wires do I plug those to the alpine deck or just leave it on the converter?
Can I put my ground wire on this nut (bolt?).

And where do I put the Remote Turn-On wire at? There isnt a blue/white wire on the wiring harness.
Thanks,
Jason

Ok, I check for the blue/white wire and it is not there. What in the world do I do now? Damn, installing an cd deck is tough, oh boy. Any help will be gladly appreciated guys. Can I put the remote turn-on wire with the ignition wire? I read that u can do that...
Thanks,
JAson

are you checking the right wiring harness? the one that came with the alpine deck... there should be on there unless they fucked up the wiring harness. but i've NEVER seen that done before..
anyway you can take pictures of the wiring harness?
anyway you can take pictures of the wiring harness?
and yes you can use that as a ground. as long as that metal braket is secured to the frame. i think it is...
where do those red and black rca's lead to on the other end? if its an amp, then yes. plug those into your deck.
take that box out completely.

Yes, the remote turn-on wire is there on the Alpine Wiring Harness, but not on the wiring harness I bought. I have no idea where to put this blue/white wire at, because there isn't one on the wiring harness I bought, Honda/Acura 1998 and up.
Do u have any Idea on what I should do with the hi-low converter?

Here is the picture of the wiring harness. One damn wire left! son of bitch!

It looks like it will be impossible to take out the hi-low converter box because the wires are connected to the factory wire harness.

This is probably the last thing you want to hear right now, but with Alpine head units containing internal V-Drive amps (such as the 9835), it is highly recommended that you run the power wire (yellow) directly to the battery to get the most out of it. Of course, this wire should be fused (20A) close to the battery. The proper gauge of wire to use is debatable. Some will say use 10 gauge as recommended by Crutchfield. Others will say using 12-16 gauge will suffice.
As for the remote wire, see if you can trace it from the sub amp to the dash. Also, now that you have an aftermarket head unit with proper sub preouts, you no longer need a hi-lo converter. You can just hook the RCA wire going to the sub directly to the new head unit's sub preouts. If all this is confusing, I would take it to a shop. Good Luck.

ahh shitty bags. Okay, what type of tools do I need to fused (20A) and where can i buy all these wires to do this? When u mean fused do you mean melting the wire to another or Fuse of a car? Damn this really sucks, lol.

Please don't take offense to what I am about to say, but from your replies it is pretty obvious that you have little or no experience in car audio installation. I'm sure others will concur with my assessment. I HIGHLY recommend that you take it to a shop to get it done. I realize you are pretty excited about getting it put in right now. However, you don't want to run the risk of f*cking up a $500+ head unit. Also, the 9835 is a relatively advanced head unit with ALOT of adjustability. Make sure to thoroughly read the manual. Again, I mean no disrespect.
With all that said, check out this site for a good description of car audio basics...

Well, I just finished installing it and damn it sounds a lot better than the factory deck. The only thing I didn't do was fused the 12 volt wire directly to the battery. But, it still sounds pretty good. Is this okay?
It wont hurt it right? I still need more information on how to fused it directly to the battery.
Thanks,
JAson

Are you using the Vdrive amp at all? If so you should really run a thicker power wire to the battery, I used 10 gauge.
Just buy 2-3M of red 10 ga wire and a 20 amp fuse and fuse holder. Connect the fuse holder as close to the battery as possible and run the rest of the wire through to the headunit. I used plastic shrouding to protect the wire.
If you are going to do that you should also find a better ground than that crappy little bolt, there is probably a bolt near the floor holding the console in you can use.

Glad you figured it all out. I guess I underestimated your abilities
. When one says "fuse the wire," they mean add a fuse to the wire, NOT "fuse as in melting the wire to another." The purpose of doing this is to protect the wire in case of a short. Here is a fuse holder that I would use for this purpose...

You can get it at Radio Shack. I would use a 20A fuse with it. Use blue crimp connectors to splice all the wires together. Use a crimpable ring terminal to connect the power wire to the POSITIVE post of the battery. Put the fuse holder within a foot from the battery terminal. The tricky thing is to find a place to run the wire through the firewall. You can find a preexisting hole. If not, you will have to drill your own. If you do this, make sure to use a grommet around the hole so that the wire does not get cut by the sharp edges of the hole.
Actually, the necessity of running the power wire directly to battery appears to be very debatable. Read this thread below and decide for yourself... http://forum.sounddomain.com/f...00001
If you do decide to run the power wire to the battery, you also must use a ground wire of equal gauge. The 9835 comes with a black 14g ground wire with a spade terminal that can be attached to a bolt inside the dash. Preferably, this ground wire should be securely attached to the floor board. If you do this, sand away all the paint, clean the area, and use a sheet metal screw to secure the ground wire. I personally am going to do all of the above when my 9835 arrives in a few days. I am going to use 12 gauge wire for both power and ground to be safe. Hope all this helps.

How come when I turn on my headlights the dash gauges get darker and so does the Alpine Head Unit? Is it because im not running the 12 volt directly to the battery? <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by kontai69 »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">

When your talking about the floor board, is this the bottom of the chasis? How the hell is the wire going to reach that far? lol. Thanks for replying and being so helpful Kontai69. Thanks bro

That is perfectly normal, huh-huh, huh-huh. When you turn on the headlights, the inside dash lights automatically dim as not to distract you when driving at night. The car also "tells" the head unit to also dim its display via the "illumination" wire you hooked up to the car's harness.

Yes, the floorboard is part of the chassis. You probably can find a good grounding point by lifting up the carpeting on either the driver or passenger side footwell. You may have to extend the black headunit ground wire using a crimp connector and some extra wire.
I can't wait for my 9835 to arrive in a few days!

Okay, i used 12 Gauge(20a fuse and everything that u recommended) wire to hook the 12 volt directly to the battery to day and everything work out fine. Can I also used that same wire to crimp the Black ground wire with and then screw it to my floor board?
Thanks,
Jason
p.s. everything is a peace of cake now!
