Default GSR-Type R

I was wondering, since i can't afford a real type-R engine, if i take a GSR block, rebuild it to the Type-R specs, aka C/R, and use a type-R head, would i be able to use a type R ecu and or the JRSC for the type R? any help is thanked

all you need is a red valve cover!

seriously, why would you go through the trouble to build up a gsr only to go to R specs? Just build the gsr!

GSRs aren't slow, I have seen some Type Rs at the track in stock configuration running low 15s. I run 15.1s COMPLETELY stock. Just get the JRSC for the GSR. Why even bother building a motor to Type R specs, that doesn't make sense like the Chewbacca defense.

that would be a waste... mayb there is a point of a swap to a jdm type r engine but then built it how u can not goin to jdm specs... other then that it is just a waste GS-Rs can built to a very strong car!

Don't waste your time and money, just build the GSR engine up.

Like stated in nearly every comment. Build the GSR.

First off, you can build up your bottom end to handle some big cams, get yourself a valvetrain, headwork, good header back setup, tranny work-possibly a final drive, cams, engine management and a tuner. With that you could push 200whp all motor and be happy as hell. Plus you would destroy a type R with that type of buildup.

the type-r is only like .2:1 higher in crompression, why would the gsr be a better platform then type-r for boost? if you lower the compression in the type-r, couldn't you be able to boost it more then if you had the same low compression pistons in the gsr?

Build with what you have available. Type R aren't all that anyways. (hehe. jk, don't be mad type R people)

the reason i was asking is i can to do a stroker kit in a gsr block. I can choose my C/R and i thought since JRSC makes a kit for the Type-R why not take the Type-R C/R and use that kit, thus more power with the S/C

There is no reason for that swap. Jackson Racing makes a supercharger for the GS-R. Why would you want to have higher compression and boost? That's makes no sense. Lower compression with boost I understand. You can pretty much pick your boost, as long as you get the right pulley. There is a limit because of the blowers design.
